@razibkhan The data collected from all these “studies” showed teachers suspended white kids at 3x the rate of Asian kids. Very weird this disparity was never brought up by the activists, media and politicians. I thought they cared about racial disparities?

Dozens of “gap” statistics have become so deeply embedded in our political discourse that we hardly question the implication, which is nearly always that they're somehow illegitimate or due to discrimination. “Women make 77 cents on the dollar compared to men.” “Hispanic students make up a disproportionately small percentage of university graduates.” “Black women must work into the following July to catch up to what white men made the previous year.” In our equity-obsessed age, each one of these “gap stats” has a grimy underbelly, made up of individuals who are unfairly denied the fruits of their talents because institutions have tried to force equal outcomes: men who work longer hours on average; Asians who have higher SAT scores on average; Millennial and Gen Z white applicants who get passed over at work because they don’t add to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. We are living through a decade of wokeism in which racial favoritism has graduated from an ostensibly temporary thumb on the scale for the almost-qualified to the kind of unqualified frenzy that attracts grifters and con artists. And, correspondingly, the discrimination against the disfavored has gone from ambient to so intense as to bar advancement in culturally prestigious industries. This has done real damage to so many lives.

i never knew there was an actual term for this: epistemic loneliness is a cognitive form of isolation that happens when you cannot share complex ideas, inner thoughts, or meaningful perspectives because you lack a willing, able, or understanding conversational partner.

Austin's Central Library is standing up a dedicated police and security unit. Drug reports and trespassing are through the roof. Just in the last year, a man was shot inside and an elderly man was punched out of his chair and stomped on the head while unconscious. The suspects were repeat offenders. One of them had a history of riding the bus (CapMetro) and punching people, including a driver and a passenger mother defending her young child. CapMetro, by the way, also stood up its own police force (25 officers, a chief, $4.7 million on a building). So the city is now creating new police units to compensate for the fact that it gutted APD back in 2020 and the county's prosecutors refuse to incarcerate repeat offenders.
