at constant 1 g acceleration / decelleration Andromeda is < 30 subjective years away, IIRC. but also, you no more need to travel to Andromeda to own it than you need to travel to San Francisco to own a share of $GOOG , or visit the ocean floor to own a Yap Stone

@xwanyex The benefits of mass immigration (cheap nannies, altered food, & smug sense of moral superiority) tend to go to elites. They can also buy their way out of the many downsides (failing public schools teaching in other languages, crime, & community destruction.)

Let’s say that you wanted to be charitable about this. Let’s make the softest possible rebuke. It would go something like this: none of the people telling you that immigration is the key to prosperity have anything like enough information to know whether that’s true. They don’t understand all the risks. They aren’t accounting for all the variables. Nobody can do that. Culture is far too complicated. But on the other hand, once you demographically change your country, that’s it. It’s permanent. Mass immigration is a permanent solution to temporary problems. There’s no way to undo changing your demographics. More than anything else, the people who support mass immigration are reckless, arrogant, narcissistic. They can’t know what they claim to know and they’re taking big risks with your country. That they do this while calling you names takes us out of “soft rebuke” territory.

Landsat 9 confirmed the landslide location. A HALF MILE WIDE section of mountain fell into the river, and proceeded 14 miles downstream covering a TWO MILE DROP.

I've always been suspicious of Rationalism™ for this reason - it constructs world models using crystalline integers and logic, and reality is much messier, so High Theory worldviews ignore 99% of the details (img: IYKYK, colorized)
