Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains which cookies and similar technologies are used on Tweet Viewer, who sets them, how long they last, and exactly how to turn them off. The short version: we set no cookies of our own and run no analytics. Read it alongside our Privacy Policy. Last updated: September 21, 2026.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are used to make sites work, to make them work better, and to tell site owners how their pages are used.
A cookie is first-party if the site you are visiting sets it, and third-party if another service does — an advertising provider, for example. A session cookie disappears when you close your browser; a persistent one stays until it expires or you delete it.
This policy also covers related technologies — local storage, pixels and web beacons — and refers to them collectively as “cookies”.
2. How cookies are used here
Tweet Viewer itself sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking. What remains falls into two categories:
- Preferences. Your light/dark theme choice, plus a flag if you installed or dismissed the home-screen app card. Both are kept in your browser's local storage, not in a cookie, and are never sent to us.
- Advertising. Where advertising is enabled, Google and other third-party advertising vendors may set cookies to make ads more relevant, cap how often you see the same ad, and measure whether ads worked. These are set by the ad network, not by us, and we never pass it the handles, links or posts you look up.
3. Cookies our advertising partners may set
Tweet Viewer sets no first-party cookies. Where advertising is enabled, the ad network may set cookies such as those below. The table is a good-faith guide; names and durations are set by these third parties and can change without notice.
| Cookie | Set by | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
IDE | Google (DoubleClick) | Advertising | Ad delivery and measurement | Up to 13 months |
test_cookie | Google (DoubleClick) | Advertising | Checks whether the browser supports cookies | 15 minutes |
Advertising cookies may be set from domains such as doubleclick.net, googlesyndication.com and googleadservices.com. They appear only where advertising is enabled on the Site.
4. Local storage we use
Two small preferences are stored in your browser's local storage rather than in a cookie, which means they stay on your device and are never sent to us:
- your light/dark theme choice;
- whether you installed or dismissed the home-screen app card.
That is all. There is no search history, no recent lookups, no favourites, alerts or bookmarks, and nothing you look up is stored. You can clear both at any time through your browser's “clear site data” setting.
5. Your choices
Browser settings. Every major browser lets you view, delete and block cookies:
Blocking cookies does not affect viewing or downloading.
Opt out of personalised advertising: Google My Ad Center; optout.aboutads.info; YourAdChoices; or AppChoices for mobile apps.
6. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. Because the industry never agreed on what DNT should mean, the Site does not currently respond to it.
We do, however, honour Global Privacy Control (GPC). Where it applies, a GPC signal from your browser is treated as a request to opt out of the “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising for that browser.
7. Changes and contact
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in the cookies we use or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons. Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
