NEW JERSEY NON-CITIZENS added to VOTER ROLLS: 6,600 people said they weren't citizens. New Jersey still put them on the voter rolls. Hundreds voted. What is going on in New Jersey? Between June 2023 and June 2024, roughly 6,600 people who identified themselves as noncitizens while applying for a driver's license or state ID were added to New Jersey's voter rolls. A preliminary state review found fewer than 400 of them later cast ballots. Later updates put the figure around 340. It is not established that this was only a software glitch rather than something worse. Van Drew asked Sherrill, "How do you know this was just a software glitch and not a nefarious act?" Rep. Jeff Van Drew, R-NJ, chair of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Oversight, will hold a hearing titled, "Restoring Election Integrity, Oversight of Voter Fraud in New Jersey," on September 15. The probe follows the state's own admission that people who answered "no" to the citizenship question at the Motor Vehicle Commission were still transmitted into the voter-registration system.
